The Origins of My Fashion Design Skills and Business

The story of Mode BiBi begins long before the brand existed—back in Togo, West Africa, where my love for fashion first took root. My name is Abide, and from a very young age, I discovered that fabric, color, and creativity were more than just interests for me—they were my calling.
Growing up, I was surrounded by vibrant traditional fabrics, ceremonies full of elegance, and women who turned simple cloth into powerful expressions of identity. That inspired me. I knew fashion wasn’t just about clothes; it was storytelling, culture, and confidence woven together. This passion drove me to enroll in a fashion academy in Togo, where I spent five years perfecting my craft. In 2003, I earned my certification, marking the official beginning of my professional journey.
From the start, I dedicated myself to creating custom clothing tailored to every individual’s needs—dresses for women, suits for men, outfits for children, and special creations for weddings, graduations, and cultural events. Over the years, I built a reputation for transforming clients’ fabrics and ideas into beautifully finished garments that fit perfectly and elevate every special occasion. The joy on a client’s face when they see their final design—that feeling is what continues to fuel my passion.
As the demand for my work grew, so did my vision. I expanded ModeBiBi not only to offer custom and alteration services but also to provide fabrics, accessories, and even fashion education. Many clients, especially parents and children, were eager to learn how to sew and create their own pieces. That inspired me to start offering sewing classes—an experience that allows me to share both the art of fashion and a touch of French language, creating a warm environment of learning and creativity.
Today, ModeBiBi stands as the home of all these passions: craftsmanship, teaching, culture, and service. Every piece I design carries a piece of my story, my training, and my love for this work. Whether you need a custom outfit, an alteration, a special-event design, or you simply want to learn how to create clothing yourself, I’m here to walk that journey with you.
Thank you for supporting ModeBiBi. This business is not just about fashion—it is about community, creativity, and celebrating the beauty within each person. I look forward to creating something wonderful with you.
Love,
Abide
